Polymers
What are they?
A Polymer is a macromolecule (large molecule) that is made up of bonded monomers. These monomers (or single unit) are simple compounds. Polymers play an essential role in the life of all organisms. The backbone (or continuous link) of a Polymer is mainly made up of carbon atoms. Polymers make a very broad variety of materials. There are man-made polymers and natural polymers. Examples of man-made polymers are: synthetic rubber, PVC piping, and silicone. Examples of natural polymers are: wool, silk, and rubber.
PVC Piping is an example of a man-made polymer.
Silk is an example of a natural polymer
Hopefully this video can be a good summary of polymers and can help brighten up your day! :)
